| The West Sydney Razorbacks Team Players . Just how good are they?? . | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

Well the Razorbacks have a talented squad thats for sure!!!. With a mixture of young rookies and experienced older players we have more than most teams could ever dream of having. When you look at our teams line-up you will see a group of extremely talented and competitive basketball players who will give nothing short of their best . We have great defensive and offensive players , great 3 point shooters , the player with the most blocked shots in the league and one of the best shooting percentages from a player off the bench. We are currently equal 6th on the NBL ladder , but with players like John Rillie , Derek Rucker , Simon Dwight and Greg Blake playing their best in recent games , we are going to be on top of the league in no time. For those of you who don't know the team the players are listed below : * #5- Derek Rucker (the captain) who is one of the best point guards in the league. * #45-Simon Dwight - the player with the most blocked shots in the NBL as of 13/1/99. * #6 -Grant Keys - who although he doesn't get too much court time has shown that he is a great offensive and defensive player in his rookie year . He has also been known to boost the teams spirits on the court. * #24 -Greg Blake - who bettered his personal best rebounding record against the Melbourne Tigers recently . Greg is a fast player who has began to show great skills in all aspects of the game. * #42 - Ernest Nzigimasabo - is a great defensive player - though at times he needs to be a bit more confident and believe in his ability. * #31 - John Rillie - (THE REAL THING) Well what can I say?? John has really been great in all aspects of the game!! at the moment John is on fire!! . He has been scoring in the 20's in his last couple of games and he has bagged so many rebounds , steals and assists that he has been by far the most valued player in the last few games . He is one of the best 3 point shooters in the league - when he takes the long range shot , he barely misses!! * #7 - Leigh Carlson - (LEAPING LEIGH CARLSON) -Leigh doesnt get too much court time , but he's a talented young player who isnt afraid of the bigger , more experienced players . He gives his best in every game and is a quick , feisty player who is good to have on a team. * #32 - Bruce Bolden - one of the NBL's best off-the-bench players . Bruce is an accurate shooter and a tough defensive player . Thank god he left the Kings for us!! * #21 - Ben Arkell - is a valued member of the squad , with his great ball skills and speed. * #33 - Steven Hoare - is another great off-the-bench player who brings a spark to the teams game .Good offensive player. *Ben Thompson - injured his ankle at the beginning of the season , is a great shooter and a valued offensive player. *Steven Ryan - Boy is he tall!! and also a good player to have in defence or under the basket. *Chris Stauber - Well I havent seen much of Chris this season . The 19 year old rookie hasnt been getting game time but I thought I should include him anyway - cause he's still a member of my fave team . I've heard that Chris is a promising young player , who shows an enormous amount of talent in all aspects of the game. We're sure to see him on the court soon. Well thats the Razorback team for ya!! Be sure to catch the boys on Saturday night 16/1/99 at the Whitlam centre when they go head-to-head with bottom of the ladder Sydney Kings. | Razorbacks to win the championships!! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
This is a poem that I wrote about the West Sydney Razorbacks winning the championship. | I wrote it after their spectacular win against the 1st placed Melbourne Tigers. RAZORBACKS ARE THE WINNERS!! Razorbacks are down , with a minute to play , the crowd are on their feet ,not knowing what to say. Will we win?? , or ,will we lose?? it's such a close game , that no-one can choose. Andrew Gaze gets the ball , and the crowd sink into their seats , certain that he'll score. But as he glides to the ring , ball in his hand , someone blocks the shot , I'ts Simon Dwight - the lord of the land. Out of nowhere came Simon Dwight , he swatted the ball , he'd never go down without a fight. Through the opposition ran the Landlord , dodging the Tigers until finally he scored!! . Razorbacks are ahead , with a second to play , can the Tigers make a comeback?? huh!! NO WAY!!. Thee siren goes off , the crowd starts to chear , who would've thought we'd be the premiers this year!!
